No results found.At the invitation of the Government of Republic of Korea, the 28th session of the Asia-Pacific Forestry Commission (APFC) was held 17 to 21 June 2019 in Incheon, Republic of Korea, with the main theme “Forests of peach and well-being”. Delegates from 20 member countries and 2 United Nations organizations participated in the session, along with observers and representatives from 21 regional and international inter-governmental and non-governmental organizations in total 200 participants were present. The Commission discussed and assessed technical and policy issues and trends of relevance to forestry in the region, advanced mechanisms for regional and sub-regional cooperation in addressing forestry problems, and advised FAO on policy formulation and on priorities for its forestry programmes in the region. A total of 17 agenda items were considered by the Commission, and the final report was adopted on 21 June 2019. -

No results found.At the kind invitation of the Government of Mongolia, the 29th session of the Asia-Pacific Forestry Commission (APFC) was held in virtual format from 22 to 25 February 2022. Under the main theme "Forests and green recovery in Asia and the Pacific”, the Commission discussed forest solutions for post-COVID-19 challenges in Asia-Pacific, and also assessed technical and policy issues of relevance to forestry in the region, advanced innovations for regional and sub-regional cooperation in addressing forestry problems. A total of nine agenda items were considered by the Commission, and the final report was adopted on 25 February.

The Technical Consultation on Voluntary Guidelines for Transshipment was held in person and virtually from 30 May to 3 June 2022, and resumed in virtual mode on 7 July 2022. It was attended by 63 FAO Members and by 18 FAO Observers. The Technical Consultation considered the draft voluntary guidelines for transshipment, as concluded by an Expert Consultation on Voluntary Guidelines for Transshipment (virtual mode, 11-15 October and 3 November 2021), as a good basis for the discussions. The Technical Consultation successfully completed the review of the draft and adopted the Voluntary Guidelines for Transshipment which address the regulation, monitoring and control of transshipment of fish, which have not been previously landed, whether processed or not. The objective of the Voluntary Guidelines is to provide assistance to States, RFMO/As, regional economic integration organizations and other intergovernmental organizations when developing new transshipment regulations, revising existing regulations and integrating these within the broader regulatory framework. -
