Synopsis (short abstract) This brochure was produced in the context of the implementation of the Voluntary Guidelines on the Responsible Governance of Tenure of Land, Fisheries and Forests in the Context of National Food Security (VGGT), to raise awareness among indigenous peoples (S01, Output 1.1.1). In particular, the brochure is part of a kit for local authorities aiming at raising awareness on indigenous peoples' issues related to governance of tenure, simplyfying the content of the VGGT and facilitating their use in conjunction with the Indian legislation on the rights to land and forests and in particular with the Forests Rights Act. The brochure is part of a series of materials produced in India to raise awareness on the Voluntary Guidelines on the Responsible Governance of Tenure of Land, Fisheries and Forests in the Context of National Food Security (VGGT) among indigenous peoples and local authorities. In particular, the brochure is included in a kit for local authorities which includes simplified information on how to implement the Forests Rights Act and the relevant legislation on indigenous peoples' land and forests' rights at local level, also through an increased knowledge of the VGGT.
