    The area available for cultivation is the area that is not damaged and not subject to access restrictions. The damaged area was assessed as of 28 July 2025 by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the United Nations Satellite Centre (UNOSAT), based on the cropland dataset for 2023. The area accessible was determined by excluding the so-called no-go areas in place and the areas subject to evacuation orders since 18 March 2025 (the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs [OCHA], July 2025).

    Using multi-source satellite imagery and baseline agricultural data, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in collaboration with the United Nations Satellite Centre (UNOSAT), conducted an assessment of agricultural land and related facilities availability in the Gaza Strip following the recent conflict escalation. The analysis identified areas not damaged and not subject to access restrictions, integrating results from assessments of cropland, greenhouses, agricultural wells, and infrastructure. Accessibility was determined by excluding areas with confirmed military presence as of 15 October 2025, providing a comprehensive overview of the agricultural areas and facilities that remain available for use.

    A cropland category mask was prepared using very high-resolution satellite data from SPOT, WorldView-2 and Pléiades multispectral and panchromatic imagery, along with Sentinel-2 to analyse the damage to cropland. Sentinel-2 data from the month of September from 2017 to 2023 was used as a baseline for comparison with September 2025 data conduct cropland change analysis of the cropland category mask area.
