Almost half of the total global population is under the age of 25. The majority of these young people live in urban areas. The international community is recognizing that we can rethink our cities and solve many of the world’s biggest challenges – such as climate change, hunger, and overconsumption – by making our cities sustainable. The future of cities depends on young people. The Green Cities Challenge Badge is designed to help educate children and young people about the importance of green cities to our planet’s future. It provides accessible knowledge on key aspects related to cities and a set of engaging and interactive learning activities that can be implemented alone or in groups to improve the sustainability of our cities.
