The National Gender Profile for Serbia represents the first comprehensive and structured attempt to collect and analyze available secondary data across all sectors relevant to agriculture and rural livelihoods. It provides a profound analysis of gender issues in agriculture, food security, and rural livelihoods. By this, the assessment contributes to the existing body of knowledge on rural women's status, establishes connections between gender inequalities and agriculture and food security, and sustainable development in Serbia, and suggests areas for future work to responsible stakeholders and FAO. -

The present paper is written as part of the overall Voluntary Guidelines consultation and development process and is a contribution to the subsequent preparation of the Gender Technical Guide. It contextualises and defines gender for the Voluntary Guidelines, discusses what governance of tenure means from a gender perspective and identifies and analyses key issues and themes. It then summarises recommendations relevant to gender before drawing some conclusions for t he development process of the Voluntary Guidelines.

No results found.This report provides a synthesis of the country papers and recommendations presented at the above expert consultation, held from 31 August to 3 September 2004 in Vientiane, Lao People's Democratic Republic. Organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Government of Lao PDR, the consultation brought together gender experts from 11 Asian countries as well as development partners including Chulalongkorn University (Thailand), ILO, SEARSOLIN, UNESCAP and UNICEF. The meet ing came as the momentum gathered in the global development community to review the implementation of the 1995 Beijing Declaration and Platform of Action, signed by 189 governments, on the advancement of women. The report explores the achievements to date among participating countries and examines persisting impediments challenging women's progress in Asia, especially for women living in rural communities who have lagged behind. The recommendations identify policies, programmes and legislative measures to support the advancement of rural women in the region.
