    This good practice factsheet introduces the ePhyto Solution, an innovative system for issuing and exchanging phytosanitary certificates in electronic form in import and export of plants and plant products. The ePhyto Solution supports this objective by responding to the needs of the twenty-first century. Electronic certificates eliminate several drawbacks of paper certificates, such as damage or fraud, and the ePhyto Solution increases the efficiency of their exchange.

    2017 was the IPPC year of trade facilitation, and the year when the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement entered into force. This 2-page factsheet highlights the links between plant health, IPPC work and trade facilitation. It provides concrete examples of the way how international standards on phytosanitary measures facilitate international trade, including the application of phytosanitary certification, both online and offline, and the IPPC work on sea containers and e-commerce.
