Synopsis (short abstract) The Statistics Division is re-evaluating all of its Statistical Prograrrnne Development Manuals with the intent to formulate a system approach to the planning, development and conduct of national statistical prograrrnnes for food and agriculture with emphasis on developing countries. For example, manuals are under preparation in such important areas as information systems for food and agricultural decision-making, the 1990 World Census of Agriculture Prograrrnne, collecting food and agricultural statistics through household surveys and a Glossary of Terminology used in Food and Agricultural Statistics, in addition to this Manual on Community Level Statistics. Manuals covering the collection and/or preparation of statistics in technical areas such as agricultural prices, commodity supply/utilization accounts, food balance sheets, investment flows into agriculture, economic accounts for agriculture and monitoring and evaluating agrarian reform and rural development using socio-economic indicators will also be developed or revised.

    The Twenty-fifth Session of the African Commission on Agricultural Statistics (AFCAS) was held at Imperial Botanical Beach Hotel in Entebbe, Uganda from 13th to 17th November 2017. Delegates from 27 AFCAS member countries as well as 10 national, regional and international institutions participated. In all, 112 participants were registered and participated in the Session. This report however captured the proceedings of events of the 25th Session of AFCAS and the recommendations made during the Session

    This document presents the report of the Nineteenth Session of the Asia and Pacific Commission on Agricultural Statistics held in Seoul, Republic of Korea from 21 to 25 October 2002. The session was attended by 60 delegates and observers from 20 member countries and four UN and international organizations. The conference assessed the current status of food and agricultural statistical development in the member countries and discussed new developments in agricultural statistics including millenni um development goals, image scanning technology for processing of agricultural survey and census data, impact/consequences of irregular censuses, and preparations for the World Census of Agriculture 2010 and indicators for agricultural policy analysis. A report on the Japan/FAO projects to improve agricultural statistics in Asia and Pacific countries and strengthen regional data exchange was also discussed, besides fishery and forestry statistics. Recommendations and follow-up actions are includ ed in the session report.
