This is the report of the 1983 EIFAC experiments on pelagic fish stock assessment by acoustic methods in Lake Constance, Federal Republic of Germany.
The background of these experiments is described in the introduction of the report.

ABSTRACT |
The main goal of this experiment was to compare fish stock estimations from acoustic methods and conventional virtual population analysis. But because the results of VPA will not be available before 1986, standing stock size was calculated provisionally from predicted year-class strengths. The estimations from these predictions and acoustic survey agree quite well. |
