Trust Funds - Exemption of Project Servicing Costs

1. At its Twenty-fifth session (April 1971) the Committee requested that it be kept informed of exemption of Project Servicing Costs on Trust Funds below the levels set by the Council. Lists of such exemptions are provided to the Committee each year at its Autumn Session. The last report was presented to the 90th Session of the Committee (21 - 25 September 1998).

2. The statistics in this document are for the period 1 June 1998 through 31 May 1999. During that time, FAO opened 125 Trust Fund projects and waived or reduced project servicing costs on 58 projects.

3. Annex I lists 23 projects which had waivers and/or reductions of project servicing costs. Twenty of these projects provide support to the Regular programme and three are funded by other international organizations.

4. Annex II lists 35 emergency projects which were subject to direct operating cost charges instead of standard project servicing costs. Such charges cover the direct operating costs of TCOR, Special Relief Operation Service and reflect the Organization's long standing policy on emergencies. As per past practice, such projects are listed for the Committee's information.
