Abstract

A report of the thirtieth World Food Day celebration held at the FAO regional office in Bangkok in commemoration of the Organization’s founding in 1945. This year’s theme – united against hunger – seeks to recognize the efforts made in the fight against world hunger by all actors, at all levels, and urges us to be even more united to do more. Highlights of the day include a keynote speech on the theme of the celebration by Dr Surin Pitsuwan, Secretary-General of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and presentation of four awards to outstanding farmers from Nepal, Republic of Korea, Thailand and Timor-Leste by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.
