Trypanotolerant
cattle, sheep and goats are reviewed in the 18 countries of West and Central Africa where
they are found. Classification, distribution, description, performance and productivity
are considered. The productivity of trypanotolerant livestock relative to other Indigenous
types in Africa may well be higher than previously assumed, thus recommendations and
possible 'locations are presented for cooperative programmes to evaluate their potential
and further utilization and to ensure the conservation of endangered breeds. |
