Abstract

The MEDRAP II Steering Committee of Lebanon recommended the organisation of a working group meeting to elaborate proposals of activities related to Pathology and Nutrition, in the framework of TECAM Network.

All experts were invited to focus on the conception and the elaboration of collaborative research (diagnosis/analytical works, advanced training courses, workshops, guidelines, etc…). The group elaborated realistic proposals of activities on Pathology and Nutrition to be submitted for consideration and adoption by the MEDRAP-CIHEAM working group meeting to be held in Saragossa on June 1994.

It was agreed that a limited number of top priority topics be established in order to keep within a moderately ambitious and realistic set of objectives. This approach is more likely to lead to the success of the Network.

Acknowledgements

The Editor would like to thank the Maltese Authorities, namely H.E. the Minister of food, Agriculture and Fisheries, Mr. Lawrence Gatt, who emphasized by his presence the full support of his Government to the Project in general and to the promotion of the sector in particular; and the National Coordinator, Prof. Carmelo Agius for the remarkable help and assistance he had provided for the organisation of the working group meeting.

The Editor would like also to thank the participants of the Member Countries and the invited experts for their contribution.

Note from the reviser

The revision and publication of this document could only be done a long time after the closure of the project. This has led to some difficulties in finalising the documents and implementing corrections, because authors and contributors as well as some of the original material or files were no longer available.

Therefore contributions form participants and session papers annexed to most of the documents were left in their original form. No language corrections were introduced, the content was not modified and left under their respective authors' responsibility.

Considering the above, we hope that the reader will understand that a standard of publication could not be maintained on a level as high as we would have liked it to be.
