Synopsis (short abstract) The FAO Corporate Statistical Programme of Work (SPW) provides an overview and a detailed description of the statistical activities carried out by all FAO divisions active in the field of statistics. The first SPW was compiled in 2010 with the scope of providing a clear overview of ongoing statistical work at FAO. Since then it has become a regular activity. This is the sixth version and covers the 2020–2021 biennium. Directed towards both internal and external users, this series is intended to serve as a useful tool for improving transparency and external visibility of the FAO Statistical System, as well as for stimulating joint efforts among international organizations in many areas. Internally, it plays an important role to increase the coordination between the various actors of the system.

    Since its establishment in 2009, the Benefit-sharing Fund has invested USD 26 million in 81 projects in 67 developing countries. This report provides an overview of the distinctive elements of the funding mechanism of the Fund, its approach and main areas of work, governance, monitoring, evaluation and learning system. The Report illustrates some of the main achievements of the Benefit-sharing Fund since its inception, provides highlights from projects funded in the ongoing Fourth Call for Proposals, along with information on financial contributions to the Fund. The report is intended to contribute to raising awareness among policy makers, donors and other relevant stakeholders on the dynamic nature of the funding modality, which supports the implementation of interventions and uses funds strategically to play a catalytic role in international cooperation in the area of plant genetic resources for food and agriculture. More detailed reports, describing the implementation progress in each funding cycle are provided to the Standing Committee on the Funding Strategy and Resource Mobilization of the International Treaty.

    The Statistics Division of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) compiles food balance sheet (FBS) statistics for 187 countries, which present a comprehensive picture of the agrifood situation of a country in a specified reference period, showing the pattern of a country's food supply and utilizations. The new release of the 2021 FBS data comprises recompiled time series from 2010 to 2021, using new conversion factors and population estimates.According to the latest data global food supply, measured by the per capita dietary energy supply, increased by 5 percent between 2010 and 2021, to 2 978 kcal/cap/day.
