Also available in:
No results found.A Joint FAO/WHO Expert Meeting on Tropane Alkaloids was convened remotely from 30th March until 3rd April to provide risk assessment for selected tropane alkaloids that can contaminate staple cereals and grains. The major discussions and findings of the highly productive meeting have been summarised in this executive summary document. -
Book (stand-alone)Safety evaluation of certain food additives and contaminants: Prepared by the eightieth meeting of the Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food Additives (JECFA. Supplement 2: Pyrrolizidine alkaloids
WHO Food Additives Series, No. 71-S2
2020Also available in:
No results found. This volume contains monographs prepared at the eightieth meeting of the Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food Additives (JECFA), which met inRome, Italy, from 16 to 25 June 2015. The toxicological and dietary exposure monograph in this volume summarizes the safety and dietary exposure data on a contaminant group (pyrrolizidine alkaloids) discussed at the eightieth meeting. Monographs on seven food additives discussed at that meeting have been previously published in the WHO Food Additives series (FAS 71), and a monograph on a second contaminant group (non-dioxin-like polychlorinated biphenyls) has been published as a separate supplement in the WHO Food Additives series. This volume and others in the WHO Food Additives series contain information that is useful to those who produce and use food additives and veterinary drugs and those involved with controlling contaminants in food, government and food regulatory officers, industrial testing laboratories, toxicological laboratories and universities. -
Book (series)Pesticide residues in food 2014 - Report 2014 (Joint FAO/WHO Meeting on Pesticide Residues)
Report of the Joint Meeting of the FAO Panel of Experts on Pesticide Residues in Food and the Environment and the WHO Core Assessment Group on Pesticide Residues Rome, Italy, 16-25 September 2014

No results found.Report of the Joint Meeting of the FAO Panel of Experts on Pesticide Residues in Food and the Environment and the WHO Core Assessment Group on Pesticide Residues. The Meeting evaluated 33 pesticides, including 8 new compounds and 3 compounds that were re-evaluated within the periodic review programme of the Codex Committee on Pesticide Residues (CCPR), for toxicity or residues, or both. The Meeting allocated ADIs and ARfDs, estimated more than 300 maximum residue levels and recommended them f or use by CCPR, and estimated STMR and highest residue (HR) levels as a basis for estimating dietary intake. The Meeting also estimated the dietary intakes (both short-term and long-term) of the pesticides reviewed and, on this basis, performed dietary risk assessments in relation to their ADIs or ARfDs. Cases in which ADIs or ARfDs may be exceeded were clearly indicated in order to facilitate the decision-making process of CCPR. The rationale for methodologies for long- and short-term dietary risk assessment are described in detail in the FAO manual on the submission and evaluation of pesticide residue data for the estimation of maximum residue levels in food and feed.
