The project aimed to improve food production and safeguard agrifood systems by providing lifesaving agricultural inputs to smallholder farmers, enabling them to grow crops for consumption and earn income from the sale of surplus produce. -

No results found.The German Federal Foreign Office, through the Special Fund for Emergency and Rehabilitation Activities − Anticipatory Action window, contributed EUR 3million (USD 3 260 885) to the project, "Scaling-up anticipatory action to protect agricultural livelihoods and food security: Phase 2" which was implemented from 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2024. The project aimed to safeguard the agriculture-based livelihoods and food security of the most vulnerable populations ahead of shocks, and to reduce humanitarian needs by systematically linking risk analysis to anticipatory action in high-risk countries. -

The project aimed to strengthen the resilience of vulnerable households to predictable natural hazards for increased food security in Zimbabwe.

If adequately nourished, educated, equipped with resources and involved in decision-making, young people can drive economic transformation and global prosperity. This brief presents the key messages and findings from the FAO report The Status of Youth in Agrifood Systems – the most comprehensive evidence-based analysis of youth engagement in agrifood systems to date. It highlights both the opportunities available to young people and the structural barriers they face, offering actionable recommendations for policymakers and development actors. The aim is to support more equitable and sustainable agrifood systems, where rural youth are not only beneficiaries but also drivers of change. -

FAO's work to tackle the climate crisis

FAO is working with countries and partners from government to community level to simultaneously address the challenges of food security, climate change and biodiversity loss.But none of this will ultimately succeed unless the world commits to a significant increase in the quality and quantity of climate finance. -
BookletHigh-profileFAO Strategy on Climate Change 2022–2031 2022The FAO Strategy on Climate Change 2022–2031 was endorsed by FAO Council in June 2022. This new strategy replaces the previous strategy from 2017 to better FAO's climate action with the Strategic Framework 2022-2031, and other FAO strategies that have been developed since then. The Strategy was elaborated following an inclusive process of consultation with FAO Members, FAO staff from headquarters and decentralized offices, as well as external partners. It articulates FAO's vision for agrifood systems by 2050, around three main pillars of action: at global and regional level, at country level, and at local level. The Strategy also encourages key guiding principles for action, such as science and innovation, inclusiveness, partnerships, and access to finance.
