    OECD-FAO Agricultural Outlook 2015-2024 2015
The twenty-first OECD edition of the Agricultural Outlook, and the eleventh prepared jointly with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), provides projections to 2024 for major agricultural commodities, biofuels and fish. Notable in the 2015 report is a special feature on Brazil. Real commodity prices are projected to resume their long-term decline on the basis of on-trend productivity growth and lower input prices. Brazil is poised to become the foremost supplier in m eeting additional global demand, mostly originating from Asia. Opportunities exist to extend the benefits of Brazil’s growth to the poorest and to reduce the pressure on natural resources.

This report presents the main findings of a joint FAO Investment Centre and World Bank stocktaking of monitoring, evaluation and learning (ME&L) and management information systems (MIS) in selected agricultural and rural development (ARD) projects in South Asia. The stocktaking is based on case studies of eight ARD projects in India (six World Bank-assisted, two IFADassisted) 3, an electronic survey of World Bank-assisted ARD projects in the region, and a desk review of project reports and relevant literature. The stocktaking was initiated at a three-day Inception Workshop in New Delhi (October 2009), held in conjunction with the stocktaking of livelihood and water management projects in India. Key questions brought out at the Inception Workshop were: what ME&L approaches, methodologies and processes best serve projects in achieving results; and how to combine MIS and ME&L systems to ensure their usefulness for project management.

Honey bee diseases and pests: a practical guide 2006
    Also available in:

It is obvious that apicultural industries play an important role in generating employment opportunities and increasing family income in the rural areas of the world. Control of diseases and pests of honey bees is one of most challenging tasks in improving quality of honey and honey bee by-products, especially for the beekeepers in developing countries. This publication describes common diseases and pests of honey bees and their importance and provides a practical guide to the bas ic technology available to beekeepers for their control and prevention. The publication is further evidence of the continuing endeavours of FAO to promote beekeeping in developing countries, as a low-cost means of improving local diets, elevating purchasing power and diversifying rural activities.
