Synopsis (short abstract) The International Women's Day (IWD) is a moment to celebrate women’s achievements, raise awareness about persistent challenges, reaffirm the commitment worldwide and call to action in accelerating efforts in the pursuit of gender equality. The theme for the IWD 2024 “Invest in Women. Accelerate Progress” aligns with the priority theme of the United Nations’ 68th Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), to examine the pathways to greater economic inclusion for women and girls everywhere. It raises urgent questions about the underrepresentation and challenges women face, emphasizing the critical need for increased financial support for gender equality as we approach the 2030 SDG deadline.
