Book (series)Minced sardinella fillets in fish landing and marketing sites in Senegal. 2005
Also available in:
No results found.Owing to their low value, small pelagics are generally neither iced nor chilled and large quantities are processed using traditional techniques. Most common products found in local markets were kethiak (roasted, salted and dried Ethmalosa or Sardinella), tambadiang and yauss (whole dried Ethmalosa). However, in the recent five years, a semi-finished product predominantly made up of minced fillets of sardinella (Sardinella aurita and S. maderensis) and bonga shad (Ethmalosa fimbriata) appeared in the fresh fish utilization scheme in Senegal and is steadily increasing in local beaches and markets. -

Also available in:
No results found. The results of commercial trial fishing for lanternfish, Benthosema pterotum, in the Gulf of Oman are described. The fishing took place during eight cruises over the period 13 September 1989 - 12 February 1990 using the R.V. Jeng Bang, a vessel from the People's Democratic Republic of Korea. Acoustic sampling and test fishing were undertaken and additional information on yield of fish meal from raw product and mesh and trawl net design were recorded. The survey recorded information on the distri bution of the lantern fish, surface temperature and length frequency of B.pterotum. During the survey 310 fishing hauls were undertaken. Estimates of biomass were calculated for survey strata. Detailed catch data and gear design are given together with an analysis of the catch relationship.
