No results found.The workshop examined past efforts to develop a regional cooperation mechanism for aquaculture development in the region, the main objective of the meeting being to reactivate an aquaculture cooperation network in the Americas. After agreeing that the network should be an intergovernmental entity, the countries elected Brazil as its initial host, with the mandate to conduct the elaboration of the network statutes and a plan of action for the short and medium terms and with the support of an exec utive secretary. It was established that once the statutes were agreed the network would be formalized with signature of the ministers or their representatives. The delegates of the participating countries subscribed a letter of intent, which ratifies their interest and commitment to establish an intergovernmental cooperation network for aquaculture, open to all the countries of the Americas. The agenda and list of participants are included in the report as Appendixes A and B respectively while Appendix C contains the letter of intention, Letter of Guayaquil. -

The meeting had as its core objective to generate a forum for the exchange of ideas and information among the countries interested in the harmonious development of aquaculture in the American Continent, in order to design a structure and an action plan which will allow for the implementation of a sustainable aquaculture cooperation network in the region. -

Este documento presenta el informe de la Reunión Internacional de Alto Nivel sobre la Iniciativa Global “Crecimiento Azul” para América Latina y el Caribe, celebrada en la Ciudad de México, México, los días 27 y 28 de Noviembre de 2017, con el objetivo de contar con un foro internacional de identificación de mecanismos de acción conjunta para incrementar la contribución de la pesca y la acuacultura sostenibles a la seguridad alimentaria, el alivio a la pobreza y en general potenciar la economía asociada a los ecosistemas acuáticos de los países de América Latina y el Caribe. La reunión permitió: 1) Identificar y discutir los principales retos y las oportunidades sociales, económicas y de producción de alimentos que ofrecen la pesca y la acuacultura en la región de América Latina y el Caribe; 2) Identificar acciones de cooperación internacional para un mejor aprovechamiento del potencial económico de los sectores de la pesca y la acuacultura en los países de la región; y 3) Establecer compromisos políticos para el impulso al Crecimiento Azul en la región. El listado de participantes (Anexo A), la agenda de la reunión (Anexo B) y la declaratoria firmada por los delegados participantes (Anexo C) acompañan el presente informe.
