No results found.The FAO Advisory Committee on Paper and Wood Products held its forty-second session on 27 April 2001 in Rome. The meeting was chaired by Mr Luis Deslandes and attended by 15 members of the Committee and 37 other participants from 24 countries and 4 international organizations. This Committee, which is a very important body to FAO, provides direct communication with the private sector and allows the Organization to ensure that its activities in the forest products sector are of relevance to the private and public forest industry. Membership consists of individual experts from all regions of the world contributing their time and expertise to the activities of the Committee. FAO acknowledges the efforts made by members to actively participate in the Committee’s activities and would like to express its deep gratitude to all members. -

Along with rising consumer demand has come greater awareness of food safety issues and increased need for convenience and quality. Selection of high quality horticultural produce for processing and implementation of good practices during processing operations are required to assure both the quality of the produce and the safety of the final product. This technical guide reviews, from a theoretical and practical perspective, the critical issues that must be addressed for fresh-cut produce to meet consumer demand for convenience, quality and safety. A case study on fresh-cut processing in Thailand is included. The guide should be of practical value to small processors, trainers and extension workers who provide support to individuals engaged in production of fresh-cut tropical produce for sale. -
