It starts by describing the concept of economic rent: what it means; how it is calculated; and why it is so important. it then presents the results of the economic rent analysis and presents some recommendations for forest charges in Suriname. Later sections describe some ways to improve the efficiency and profitability of the forestry sector in Suriname and some ways that current constraints may be overcome.
