Les articles rdigs par des responsables du Dpartement des forts sont consacrs aux principaux problmes qui se posent aujourd'hui en matire de foresterie mondiale et aux dfis qu'il faudra relever. Ils tirent aussi les enseignements de l'exprience passe. A cet gard, l'entretien avec Ren Fontain e, l'un des premiers forestiers de la FAO, est particulirement intressant, tout comme les brves rflexions d'anciens membres du Dpartement des forts dont est maill ce numro.

No Thumbnail AvailableDocumentFAO journalLes petites entreprises forestières 1987Pour rpondre aux proccupations des gouvernements, la FAO a pris l'initiative de dvelopper l'information sur la nature des petites entreprises forestires, leur contribution aux revenus ruraux, les contraintes auxquelles elles se heurtent et les possibilits que le renforcement de ce secteur offre pour amliorer les revenus ruraux. Dans un premier temps, la FAO a fait procder un certain nombre d'tudes de cas, la suite desquelles s'est tenue Rome, en octobre 1986, une consultation d'experts qui a fourni les lments de l'article de tte du prsent numro, crit par Arnold, Chipeta et Fisseha. Le compte rendu de cette consultation sera publi la fin de 1987 dans la srie Etudes FAO: Forts. Les deux autres articles thmatiques de ce numro sont une tude sur les entreprises de carbonisation au Kenya, par M. Kinyahjui, et une valuation des potentialits des coopratives forestires, par K. Kilander.

Of these assets, the Library is unquestionably the most outstanding and is a lasting record of the Institute's work and its achievement in the field of agriculture. This catalogue will undoubtedly contribute towards a better knowledge of this international Library. This volume in its present form, represents the systematic card-index, by subject of the Brussels Decimal Classification, in French and English, and it's supplemented by the general alphabetical index of authors.

The 2023 edition of the Regional Overview of Food Security and Nutrition in Latin America and the Caribbean presents an update of the data and trends in food security and nutrition in recent years. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the climate crisis and the conflict in Ukraine, as well as the economic slowdown, rising food inflation and income inequality have had an impact on regional figures. The most recent data shows that, between 2021 and 2022, progress was made in reducing hunger and food insecurity in Latin America and the Caribbean. However, the progress achieved is far from the targets established to meet SDG 2 of ending hunger. In addition, one in five people in the region cannot access a healthy diet and malnutrition in all its forms, including child stunting, micronutrient deficiencies and obesity continue to be a major challenge.
