Synopsis (short abstract) Utilising a baseline agricultural infrastructure layer and very high-resolution satellite imagery, FAO conducted an assessment of the number of agricultural infrastructures damaged in the Gaza Strip as a result of the recent conflict escalation. The number of damaged agricultural infrastructures were calculated based on their location within a 15-meter radius area around a damaged site. The damage was estimated using multiple Sentinel-1 SAR imagery and overlaying the agricultural infrastructure layer with the damage layer (damage proxy map) from 30 April 2025.

    A cropland mask was prepared using very high-resolution satellite data from SPOT and Pléiades and high-resolution data from Sentinel-2 to analyse the damage to cropland. Sentinel-2 data from the month of April from 2018 to 2024 was used as a baseline for comparison with April 2025 data to conduct cropland change analysis of the cropland mask area.
