No results found.Samples of detrital aggregate (N =43) were collected from three habitats (stream, backswamp, lake) and two substrata (benthic and periphytic) in the Sepik-Ramu system to assess their potential food value for detritivorous fishes. Compared to other aquatic systems where detritivorous fishes thrive, the detrital aggregate samples from the SepikRamu were as high or higher in key nutrients (digestible organic matter, protein, total amino acids). Habitats and substrata differed with lower food qualit y in streams, high food quality in the backswamp and highest food quality in the lake. Detrital food resources in the backswamp and lake appear to be fully adequate to support rapid growth and good health of detritivorous fishes. -

No results found.This document presents the Caribbean Regional Management Plan for the anchored fish aggregating device (aFAD) fishery, which stems from the terms of reference and workplan of the WECAFC ad hoc Joint Working Group on Development of Sustainable Anchored Fish Aggregating Device (aFAD) Fishing in the Lesser Antilles for the 2019–2021 period. These terms of reference were formalized during the third meeting of the working group held from 30 April to 2 May 2019 and endorsed during the Seventeenth Session of the Commission held 15–18 July 2019 in Miami, United States of America. The terms of reference included the review of the CRFM Subregional Management Plan for FAD Fisheries in the Eastern Caribbean to adapt it to a broader WECAFC regional FAD management plan. -

No results found.The Statistics Division has pioneered efforts in obtaining inter-country comparisons of agricultural output aggregates and the agricultural GDP. Preliminary results of the efforts of the Division are documented in an earlier publication, Social and Economic Development series No. 61, in 1986. In response to the growing demand for further results, the Statistics Division has initiated a project covering the period 1970 to 1990 and this report documents some of the results of the current effort. The present project is still limited by the availability of reliable data on the inputs. The Division believes that over time this deficiency will be attended to. However the coverage of countries and commodities in the exercise is extensive and it is made possible by the large data bank at the FAO.
