ProjectImplementing the Save and Grow Approach in Sri Lanka and Zambia - GCP/INT/259/GER 2023
Also available in:
No results found. The “Save and Grow” concept, developed by FAO in 2011, recognizes that natural and social capital are indispensable for the sustainability of growth, and that the consumption/extraction rate of renewable resources needs to be maintained within the reproductive capacity of natural systems. “Climate smart Agriculture” is an approach to help guide actions to transform and re orient agricultural systems to effectively and sustainably support food security under the new realities of climate change. The integration of the two concepts is a fundamental cornerstone for providing guidance on the most suitable farming practices. The aim of the project was support Sri Lanka and Zambia by promoting crop production intensification practices and technologies for the two major staple crops in Southern Africa and South Asia, thus contributing to improved food security in the regions. The project would target farmers to ensure their access to agricultural practices that are climate smart and affordable, and that do not rely on non renewable production inputs, and policy makers aiming at providing guidance to address the root causes of vulnerability to climate change. -
