Brochure, flyer, fact-sheetFAO’s Damage and Loss Assessment methodology to monitor the Sendai Framework’s Indicator C2 and the Enhanced Transparency Framework (ETF)
An overview of FAO’s Damage and Loss Assessment methodology and using it to report on adaptation in the agriculture sectors under the ETF
2021The FAO’s Damage and Loss (D&L) assessment methodology makes it possible to evaluate the impact of disasters on the agriculture sectors. It also helps countries report on climate change (for example on article 7 of the ETF); and monitor the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (SFDRR) indicator C2 on direct agricultural loss from disasters. Finally, it provides baseline data for monitoring global targets on resilience. -
Book (stand-alone)Lebanon: Agricultural damage and loss assessment on the impact of conflict
DIEM-Impact report, October 2023–November 2024
2025Also available in:
No results found. This report presents the findings of an assessment of the damages and losses sustained by Lebanon’s agriculture sector due to the conflict between 8 October 2023 and 27 November 2024, which serves as the end date for this analysis. This assessment, conducted by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations' (FAO's) Data in Emergencies Impact (DIEM-Impact) System, relied primarily on remote data collection and analytics, and the information available within the assessment timeframe to provide preliminary and partial estimates. The actual value of the total damages and losses to the agriculture sector is expected to exceed the figures presented in this report. Additionally, the report provides estimates of recovery and reconstruction needs, along with a recovery strategy for the sector to inform a comprehensive Emergency and Recovery Plan currently in development by FAO and the Ministry of Agriculture.FAO established DIEM-Impact to provide a granular and rapid understanding of the impact of large-scale hazards on agriculture and agricultural livelihoods using a variety of assessment methodologies, including primary and secondary information, remote sensing technologies, and FAO’s damage and loss methodology. DIEM-Impact presents a regularly updated and accessible state of food insecurity in fragile environments, and helps underpin FAO's programming based on evidence.
