Athens, Greece, 12–17 April 2010 2010The thirty-fourth session of the General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM) was attended by representatives from 17 Contracting Parties as well as from 9 observers. The Commission also hold the first session of its Committee on Administration and Finance (CAF) and the fourth session of its Compliance Committee (CoC). It reviewed the intersessional activities of its scientific and technical subsidiary bodies and adopted three management decisions concerning the establishment of a G FCM logbook, the management of fishing capacity in the Mediterranean and the Black Sea and the identification of non-compliance with GFCM binding decisions. It also endorsed three Recommendations of the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT) regarding the management of swordfish and bluefin tuna fisheries and on selected Shark species associated with tuna fisheries in the GFCM competence area. The session acknowledged the progress on the performance review of the GFCM launched in 2009, to be continued in 2010, renewed the bureau of its Compliance Committee and agreed on the new approach to the functioning of its SAC-Working groups on stock assessment. The Commission further noted the positive progress in the field of sustainable aquaculture. During this session, the 2010 programme of work of the GFCM subsidiary bodies was approved by the Commission which also adopted the 2010 autonomous budget at the level of US$ 1 624 000. Finally the Commission decide d that the election of the Executive Secretary would be done during the thirty-fifth ordinary session scheduled to be held in 2011, according to the established procedure and that the Deputy Secretary shall continue filling this position until completion of the selection process and appointment of the new Secretary. The Commission amended its Rules of procedure and extended the mandate of the GFCM Bureau untill the thirty-fifth session.

2003ُقِدت مشاورة الخبراء المعنية بتحديد وتقدير الدعم في قطاع صناعة الصيد وتقديم التقارير بشأنه، بمقر منظمة الأغذية والزراعة لمدة أربعة أيام اعتباراً من 3 ديسمبر/كانون الأول 2002. وقد ستعرضت المشاورة مسودة الدليل الذي وضعته المنظمة لتحديد وتقدير الدعم في قطاع صناعة الصيد وتقديم التقارير بشأنه، وخلصت إلى أنه أصبح جاهزاً للاستخدام بعد إدخال بعض التعديلات الطفيفة ليه. وأوصت المشاورة بأن تُقدِّم المنظمة الدعم للبلدان الأعضاء في إجراء الدراسات التي تستند إلى الدليل. ورأى الخبراء أن من المهم استخدام ا لطرق والمناهج المتاحة في تقدير الآثار المترتبة على الإجراءات التي تتخذها الجهات التي تحصل على الدعم فيما يتعلق بالبيئة والتجارة والنمو الاقتصادي والظروف الاجتماعية. وانتهت المشاورة إلى أن على المنظمة أن تعمل على تشجيع تطوير النماذج لمناسبة واستخدامها في تقييم آثار الدعم من خلال إجراء دراسات حالة عن الأوضاع الفعلية -

No results found.The fourth session of the General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) met in Athens, Greece, from 4 to 7 June 2001 and was attended by delegates from fifteen Members of the Commission. The Committee reviewed the conclusions and recommendations of its four Sub-Committees and its ad hoc Working Group on Management Units. The Committee noted that some stocks are fully exploited and recommended the reduction of the fishing effort targeting these stocks. The Committee recommended to declare the year 2002 the year of the anchovy. The Committee recommended to further investigate the feasibility of an ecosystem management-based approach to Mediterranean fisheries. It agreed on a proposal for a regional project on statistics (MEDIFSIS) that should be examined by the Commission during its next Session. The Committee agreed also on a proposal made by the European Inland Fisheries and Aquaculture Committee (EIFAC) to set up a Joint Working Group on Sturge on provided that Black Sea riparian GFCM Members agree on such a proposal.
