No results found. The 20th meeting of the FAO-WOAH Rinderpest Joint Advisory Committee (JAC) was organized under the umbrella of the GF-TADs, by its Rinderpest Secretariat from 24-25th April 2025 at FAO HQ, Rome, Italy. The Secretariat informed the group of the progress in the implementation of the post-eradication activities since the previous meeting, in April 2024. This included the site inspection of the two RHFs which had been first designated in 2019 (Institute of Veterinary Drug Control (IVDC), China, and Centre de coopération internationale en recherche agronomique pour le développement (CIRAD), France); the inspection of a candidate RHF (Indian Council of Agricultural Research – National Institute for High Security Animal Diseases, ICAR-NIHSAD, Bhopal); the collection and review of annual reports from RHFs and from countries holding Rinderpest Virus Containing Material (RVCM) outside Rinderpest Holding Facilities (RHFs); and the country-specific advocacy efforts undertaken in the previous year. Discussions focused on providing expert guidance to FAO and WOAH on critical post-eradication activities. This included the review of inspection reports for RHFs seeking (re)designation, assessment of ongoing and new research proposals. The JAC also discussed advocacy strategies for reducing RVCM globally and reviewed recommendations from the preceding RHF Network Meeting. A central aim was to ensure alignment between scientific oversight, risk reduction, and the broader objectives of the Global Rinderpest Action Plan (GRAP). The JAC advised on these topics and action items of the meeting are formulated. -
