    West Kalimantan has a high diversity of biodiversity. In Betung Kerihun National Park, at least 1,216 flora species are identified, 75 species of them are endemic to Kalimantan. The area also has at least 48 mammal species, including orangutan and honey bear. Conserving this biodiversity is important to sustain the ecological function. The Assisted Natural Regeneration, introduced by the Forest Investment Program-1 with the objective to provide alternative methodology for conserving biodiversity, improve natural wilding growth, and support in sustainin genetic resources. Vegetation analyses were conducted in several transects representing different forest habitat in West Kalimantan. Both flora and fauna were recorded and analyze on their protection status, abundance, and diversity. A 2,000 Ha within the Danau Sentarum National park area was targeted for the ANR program. Flora/fauna plots were distributed at the peat forest in Pulau Majang Village. At the seedling stage, 5 species were identified. Dichilante borneensis dominated the seedling stage. At the tree stage, a species of Shorea balangaran dominates the strata with more than 1,000 individuals per Ha. Mother trees of Shorea balangaran and Gonystylus bancanus were also identified and marked for future seeds collection. During the forest patrol in the period of September 2020, seedlings were checked and any disturbance (grasses, climbers, tree falls) were removed. ANR focused on liberating seedlings and poles from these disturbances. Additionally, observation on fauna were conducted. Mammal species, reptile, and bird species were identified, in which all of them are protected (CITES I & II and according to the Indonesian regulation).     Bush encroachment is a serious land degradation phenomenon affecting up to 45 million hectares of Namibian land and has severe negative consequences on key ecosystem services, threatening biodiversity, water resources and the livelihoods of communities and farmers who depend on the land. It has led to decreased biodiversity, degradation of the functions and structures of ecological ecosystems, lowering the grasslands’ carrying capacity, displacement of wildlife, as well as impacting groundwater recharge. Encroachers include species such as Senegalia erubescens, S. fleckii, Vachellia nilotica, V. luederitzii, V. reficiens, Colophospermum mopane, Rhigozum trichotomum, Terminalia prunioides, T. sericea, S. mellifera, and Dichrostachys cinerea.

    The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an international organisation promoting responsible forest management. FSC has been certifying forest management in savanna woodland and timber products produced such as charcoal in Namibia for 19 years, and has seen a rapid increase in forest management certification over the last 3 years. The poster will highlight the enabling conditions which contributed to the growth of approximately 1.5 million hectares (841%) of responsibly managed restoration efforts on FSC certified land in Namibia. This will include information on the FSC forest stewardship standard for Namibia developed by Namibian experts and stakeholders. The standard is focused on restoration of degraded forests and effective after-care measures and improved working conditions for workers. Information will also include supply chain integrity in charcoal supply chains from Namibia to European markets; biodiversity conservation via ecosystem services certification, development and implementation of user friendly technology to assist farmers with sustainable forest management practices and knowledge transfer; and how the use of materials developed by partners have assisted with best practices and local capacity development.     Honduras has a unique combination of coniferous forests from the Northern Hemisphere and deciduous or broadleaf forests from the Southern Hemisphere, allowing for the encounter of unique flora and fauna species and vegetation types. Forests provide multiple ecosystem services for supply, regulation, cultural and population, such as water regulation, carbon storage, ecosystem and wildlife habitat conservation, scenic beauty or landscapes, and soil conservation. This rich and diverse natural capital in Honduras is critical to sustaining key economic sectors and supporting the livelihoods of the rural poor. Farming and livestock activities are part of the livelihood, and the agricultural sector accounts for 13.9% of the national GDP.Despite its importance, the country's natural capital is rapidly degrading for several causes, including agriculture, mining, and livestock. The country's forests are increasingly degraded, losing their capacity to provide ecosystem services and benefits, and contributing to ecosystem fragmentation, biodiversity loss and climate change. At the same time, the country's high vulnerability to natural disasters and climate change negatively affects its economy. Honduras is a country severely affected by weather-related events and other hazards.The proposed GEF project aims to address the degradation and fragmentation of Honduras' natural capital and improve the livelihoods of local communities in the productive landscapes in the Olancho Department with a particular focus on the landscapes area between Sierra de Agalta, Boquerón, and La Muralla protected areas.
