Synopsis (short abstract) A medium-size report that deals with the overall situation of data on fuelwood in the Central African Republic. The report is composed of three main parts; the first section is a short description of the country and the terms of the study. The second part is an evaluation of the country's forest cover while the third part states the forest parameters (number of trees, volume, etc.) followed by a conclusion.

This country report covers the overall situation of forest resources in Guinea-Bissau. The report includes an introduction covering the main aspects of forest resources in the country. The first part gives some general information about what forest resources are available giving some details about the types of vegetation, biodiversity, etc. The second part of the report covers the vegetation coverage according to the national classification. The third part is a comparison between the nationa l classification and that of FRA 2000 followed by a fourth part giving an insight on forest plantations designed for roundwood production. The following parts are estimations of annual growth, principal species, productivity figures, planted surfaces, fuelwood needs, etc.

L'Evaluation des ressources forestires mondiales 2000 (ERF 2000) est prsent acheve, mais les travaux relatifs la suivante ont dj commenc. La consultation d'experts Evaluation des ressources forestires mondiales - harmoniser les efforts nationaux et internationaux, connue sous le nom de Kotka IV, a rassembl, en juillet 2002, des experts internationaux pour examiner les concepts et les stratgies futurs. Les articles de ce numro d'Unasylva ont t adapts pour un plus large public, partir de docume nts prpars pour la Consultation. Ils portent sur les liens entre l'valuation et le suivi, les besoins d'information l'chelon national et international, les critres et indicateurs de la gestion durable des forts, et l'tablissement des rapports sur les forts pour les instruments internationaux. Les dtails techniques figurent sur le site web de la FAO (www.fao.org/forestry) et seront publis dans les actes de Kotka IV.

This thirty-page report is the third out of three reports written on forest resources in Madagascar. It is aimed at the collection, analysis of data related to the forest plantations sector in Madagascar. Different from the other two reports, it deals with issues related to village plantations and its uses by local families. The report is composed of six main topics dealing with the methodologies used, the surface of the plantations, total volume of these, the commercial aspects, the duration of rotation and the dynamics of reforestation and exploitation. A brief conclusion is given.
