No results found.La República Dominicana produce el 85 % de su canasta básica, siendo el 93 % de las casi 320 000 unidades productivas agrícolas en el país generadas por pequeños productores. Estos pequeños productores producen la mayoría de los alimentos consumidos por la población y generan empleos en las zonas rurales, dinamizando las economías locales. Sin embargo, el sector turístico es uno de los principales contribuyentes al producto interno bruto (PIB), demandando el 40,9 % de bienes y servicios producidos por otros sectores económicos. La pandemia de la COVID-19 ha impactado negativamente en las actividades productivas, especialmente en el turismo, con un decrecimiento del 46,9 % entre enero y agosto de 2020, afectando también al sector agropecuario. La Agricultura Familiar (AF) se ha visto fuertemente afectada como importante abastecedor de alimentos y servicios en los entornos rurales, lo cual es insostenible a largo plazo. -
ProjectFactsheetCreando más y mejores empleos para la juventud rural - GCP/INT/335/MUL 2024La población mundial juvenil (de 15 a 24 años) ha alcanzado la cifra sin precedentes de 1 200 millones de personas, de las cuales aproximadamente un 85 % viven en África, Asia y América Latina y el Caribe, principalmente en zonas rurales. Si bien esta cifra excepcionalmente alta representa una importante oportunidad para el rejuvenecimiento de los sistemas agroalimentarios, los jóvenes continúan rechazando estos sistemas, como resultado de factores tales como el acceso insuficiente a tierras y otros recursos naturales, infraestructura, financiación, tecnología, conocimientos y servicios de apoyo. La situación se ve exacerbada por la baja remuneración. En zonas rurales, en particular, la transición de los jóvenes a un trabajo digno se ve impedida por una falta de oportunidades de empleo productivo. Abordar sus necesidades es, por tanto, de suma importancia para aprovechar su contribución plena al desarrollo de sistemas agroalimentarios.

This new strategy replaces the previous strategy from 2017 to better FAO's climate action with the Strategic Framework 2022-2031, and other FAO strategies that have been developed since then. The Strategy was elaborated following an inclusive process of consultation with FAO Members, FAO staff from headquarters and decentralized offices, as well as external partners. It articulates FAO's vision for agrifood systems by 2050, around three main pillars of action: at global and regional level, at country level, and at local level. The Strategy also encourages key guiding principles for action, such as science and innovation, inclusiveness, partnerships, and access to finance.

No results found.The FAOSTAT emissions database is composed of several data domains covering the categories of the IPCC Agriculture, Forestry and Other Land Use (AFOLU) sector of the national GHG inventory. Energy use in agriculture is additionally included as relevant to emissions from agriculture as an economic production sector under the ISIC A statistical classification, though recognizing that, in terms of IPCC, they are instead part of the Energy sector of the national GHG inventory. FAO emissions estimates are available over the period 1961–2018 for agriculture production processes from crop and livestock activities. Land use emissions and removals are generally available only for the period 1990–2019. This analytical brief focuses on overall trends over the period 2000–2018. -

The present study was undertaken for the quadrennial review of FAO’s strategic framework and for the preparation of the Organization Medium-Term plan 2018-2021.
