No results found.El Salvador continúa presentando diversos desafíos relacionados con la inseguridad alimentaria y nutricional, la cual se ve manifestada, por una triple carga de malnutrición, que abarca deficiencias de micronutrientes, problemas de desnutrición crónica y aguda, así como de sobrepeso y obesidad Particularmente se evidencia un incremento en la prevalencia de anemia en menores de cinco años, mientras que los problemas de sobrepeso y obesidad van en aumento en todos los grupos de edad Estos desafíos nutricionales obstaculizan el progreso y el desarrollo económico del país, y a nivel individual, limitan el desarrollo físico, al acarrear efectos negativos en la salud de quienes la padecen Ante esta problemática, es de suma importancia la aplicación y continuidad de políticas y programas de protección social que contribuyan al logro del derecho humano a la alimentación adecuada. -

No results found.En América Latina y el Caribe, la situación de malnutrición en niños afecta de forma polarizada el sobrepeso infantil en niños menores de cinco años llega al siete por ciento, cifra que supera la prevalencia mundial Además, preocupa el retraso en el crecimiento en niños y niñas menores de cinco años, especialmente en Guatemala, donde un 46 5 por ciento de los niños y niñas se ven afectados Las escuelas son un entorno ideal para contribuir a la nutrición y al desarrollo infantil debido a la edad temprana de los escolares, en la cual se empiezan a formar los hábitos alimentarios y de salud En dicho contexto, con el objetivo de poner fin a todas las formas de malnutrición, en alineación con el principio del derecho humano a la alimentación, y basados en la experiencia del Laboratorio Gastronómico de la Junta Nacional de Auxilio Escolar ( de Chile, que en cuatro años logró institucionalizarse como una unidad técnica especializada en gastronomía adscrita al Programa de Alimentación Escolar ( la Oficina Regional de la FAO llevó a cabo una experiencia similar en Colombia y Guatemala, con el objetivo de contribuir a mejorar la eficiencia de sus respectivos PAE.

However, less attention is being paid to the biodiversity beneath our feet, soil biodiversity, which drives many processes that produce food or purify soil and water. This report is the result of an inclusive process involving more than 300 scientists from around the world under the auspices of the FAO’s Global Soil Partnership and its Intergovernmental Technical Panel on Soils, the Convention on Biological Diversity, the Global Soil Biodiversity Initiative, and the European Commission. It presents concisely the state of knowledge on soil biodiversity, the threats to it, and the solutions that soil biodiversity can provide to problems in different fields. It also represents a valuable contribution to raising awareness of the importance of soil biodiversity and highlighting its role in finding solutions to today's global threats.
