No results found.FAO China ECTAD Highlights in February 2019: The Inception Meeting of the FAO-China South-South Cooperation (SSC) Project on Transboundary Animal Disease Control in the Greater Mekong Sub-Region (GMS) was held in Bangkok, Thailand from 30 January 2019 to 1 February 2019. Under the framework of the FAO-China Trust Fund in support of SSC, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA) of China and Food and Agriculture Organization of United Nations (FAO) signed the agreements to implement the FAO-China SSC Project on Transboundary Animal Disease Control in the GMS in July 2018. The project’s objective is to strengthen collaborations and policy dialogues among the countries in GMS including China, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand and Viet Nam. -

No results found.FAO China ECTAD Highlights in Feb 2018: - The Prince Mahidol Award Conference (PMAC) 2018 on the theme “Making the World Safe from the Threats of Emerging Infectious Diseases” was held in Bangkok, Thailand from 29 January to 03 February 2018. This conference aimed to promote a greater understanding of the range and nature of the “drivers” underlying the emergence of new disease threats and options for their migration; to highlight emerging demographic, climatic, and travel trends to better understand how disease emergence will evolve over the course of this century; and to underscore the collateral social-economic and development benefits associated with a One Health Agenda. - A meeting of the United Nations Theme Group on Agriculture (UNTG-AG) – sub working group on Diseases at the Human-animal-environment interface to discuss influenza A (H7N9) disease situation was held on 7 February 2018 in Beijing. The meeting aimed at providing updates from both animal and public health sectors on the H7N9 situation and discussing current policies. - The Global Epidemiology Coordination and Development Workshop on Field Epidemiology Training Programs for Veterinarians (FETPV) was held in FAO headquarters in Rome from 19-21 February 2018. The workshop aimed to share experiences and lessons learnt on the development and implementation of applied epidemiology training programs conducted in different regions globally for public health and veterinary and animal health services staff; to develop a commonly recognized set of core competencies for implementing in the FETPV at regional and country levels; to map out the status of FETPV and related applied veterinary epidemiology training programs worldwide; and to develop criteria and action points for development for a global network of institutions and partners that can provide guidance and technical and financial support for training, mentorship and development of FETPV and other related trainings in countries and regions.
