No results found.A few outbreaks of H5N1 Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) were reported in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Viet Nam during the preceding month. One year has passed since the first HPAI case was officially reported by the Republic of Korea to OIE on 12 December 2003. It is important to pay attention to the biosecurity of domestic poultry to prevent infection, and maintain vigilance and enhance early warning in order to detect every additional case, to ensure effective control of outbreak s and to minimise the risk to humans. -

No results found.Thailand: A new case of avian influenza was found in Mae Haeh (Muang district, Chiangmai Province) at a training farm belonging to the Faculty of Agriculture, Chiengmai University on 22/05/04 where 473 chickens died with AI compatible signs. The farm housed various avian species (layer, broiler, duck, goose, ostrich and native chickens). The animals were destroyed based on clinical suspicion. The farm was isolated from the community and no other poultry farms within 5 kilometre radius. (24/05/04 source: FAO; government, gphin) Indonesia: New cases of Avian Influenza were reported from Sleman and Bantul districts (DI Yogyakarta) and North Lampung District (Lampung Province), the total number of infected provinces is 14, comprising 92 districts.
