Synopsis (short abstract) Viet Nam in general and FAO Representation in Viet Nam in particular have received many major thematic, ex-post and real time evaluations, as well as UN-wide evaluations on the One UN. The CE is found complementary to the on-going formulation of the Country Programming Framework (CPF). A thorough longitudinal analysis and evaluation of the four sectors of focus, namely food safety, climate change adaptation, rural development and fisheries are found helpful for the future programming based on th e CPF.

Since 2005 the Food and Agriculture and Organization (FAO) has began conducting evaluations of the entirety of its work in individual countries. To 2012, thirteen country evaluations have been carried out in a wide variety of country situations. In 2011, the Programme Committee requested the Office of Evaluation (OED) to conduct evaluations of FAO’s work in middle-income countries and Viet Nam was chosen based on the selection criteria OED employed. FAO has also been participating in the UN Deli vering as One (DAO) pilot in the country and the potential for the evaluation to examine this experience was an additional reason why Viet Nam was selected. The evaluation covers FAO’s cooperation in the country from 2006 to 2012.

The Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has been carrying out evaluations of its work in individual countries since 2005. This Sri Lanka country evaluation, conducted in 2012 and covering the period 2006 to 2012, is the 11th of its type.
