No results found.Lebanon is facing one of the most severe economic crises in the world in addition to a protracted refugee crisis. Inflation has skyrocketed and unemployment has reached an all-time high. Year-on-year food prices have doubled, eroding the purchasing power of all families in Lebanon. Four in ten of the people projected to be acutely food insecure in Lebanon in 2023 live in rural areas. Humanitarian response to support local food producers is critical to prevent a further deterioration in the food security situation. However, less than 1 percent of humanitarian funding to food sectors goes to support the agricultural livelihoods of families in need. -

No results found.At the request of the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) and in collaboration with the appropriate Government agencies, an FAO assessment Mission visited Lebanon between 2 and 13 February 2020 to conduct an examination of the impact of the economic and financial crisis on the domestic agricultural sector. The Mission put forward recommendations for appropriate actions to be taken by the Government and the international community to minimize the negative impacts of the crisis on the sector as well as agricultural livelihoods and to protect the most vulnerable in the immediate term. -
