This service forms an integral part of the Programme Against African Trypanosomosis (PAAT) and is jointly sponsored by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the Inter-African Bureau for Animal Resources of the African Union (AU-IBAR), the World Health Organization (WHO), the Research Department for Livestock Production and Veterinary Medicine of the Centre de Coopération Internationale en Recherche Agronomique pour le Développement (CIRAD-EMVT) and the British Government’s Department for International Development (DFID). -

This document, based on the Voluntary Guidelines on national forest monitoring (VGNFM), provides a series of good practices organised into sixteen steps to facilitate the integration of the monitoring process to officers responsible for forest and landscape restoration (FLR) and the national forest monitoring system (NFMS). An inter-institutional work is proposed with key stakeholders to discuss the new information needs according to the approach and modalities of FLR implementation. Based on these needs, indicators, metrics, and monitoring attributes are organised.
