Global health security is under increasing threat from emerging infectious diseases and the impacts of environmental change. Intelligence systems must be able to predict, prevent and reduce the risk of ongoing and emerging threats by using an integrated “One Health” (OH) approach to optimize the health of humans, animals, plants and ecosystems. Strengthening global OH intelligence will support the identification and mitigation of risks to global health security. In June 2021, the Group of Seven requested that the Quadripartite alliance of FAO, UNEP, WHO and WOAH (founded as the Office International des Epizooties [OIE]) conduct a One Health Intelligence Scoping Study (OHISS) “to identify potential opportunities for improved technical harmonization of their and other prioritized systems to strengthen One Health intelligence”. The OHISS was coordinated by FAO, as the lead agency for the project.
