Brochure, flyer, fact-sheetEnhancing the capacity of the International Forestry Training Centre
GCP/SEC/024/TUR
2024Forests cover 23 million hectares of Türkiye's land, and the General Directorate of Forestry (GDF) has long been at the forefront of forest fire management. However, the devastating 2021 wildfire season, which burned over 1,700 square kilometres, underscored the need for enhanced capacity. To address this, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Türkiye and GDF are working to modernize and expand the Turkish International Forestry Training Centre.Under the FAO–Türkiye Partnership Programmes, "Enhancing the Capacity of the Turkish International Forestry Training Centre" project strengthens the Centre’s ability to provide cutting-edge forestry training. It enriches the curriculum with specialized topics, promotes gender-sensitive content, and broadens the scope from national to regional and international levels. With an upgraded and sustainable platform, the Centre aims to share Türkiye’s vast forestry expertise, particularly with countries in Central Asia, supporting global efforts in forest restoration and fire management. This flyer provides essential information about the project, including its scope, budget, and target beneficiaries. -
