No results found.The Scientific Advisory Committee on Aquaculture (CAQ) of the General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM) held its eleventh session in Málaga, Spain, from 10 to 12 September 2019. The session was attended by delegates and representatives from 18 contracting parties, three cooperating non-contracting parties, seven observers from intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations and representatives from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the GFCM Secretariat. The agenda also included a special session of the Information System for the Promotion of Aquaculture in the Mediterranean (SIPAM), which was organized concomitantly. Le Comité scientifique consultatif de l’aquaculture (CAQ) de la Commission générale des pêches pour la Méditerranée (CGPM) a tenu sa onzième session à Malaga, Espagne, du 10 au 12 septembre 2019. Ont participé à la session des délégués et représentants de 18 parties contractantes, trois parties non contractantes coopérantes et sept observateurs d’organisations intergouvernementales et non gouvernementales, ainsi que des représentants de l’Organisation des Nations Unies pour l’alimentation et l’agriculture (FAO) et du Secrétariat de la CGPM. L’ordre du jour comprenait également une séance spéciale consacrée au Système d’information pour la promotion de l’aquaculture en Méditerranée (SIPAM), tenue conjointement. -

No results found.The Scientific Advisory Committee on Aquaculture (CAQ) of the General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM) held its twelfth session in hybrid mode, in Casablanca, Morocco and online from 7–9 June 2022. The session was attended by delegates from 18 contracting parties, three cooperating non-contracting parties, one observer, as well as representatives of the FAO Fisheries and Aquaculture Division, the GFCM Secretariat and invited experts. During the session, the Committee reviewed the work carried out during the 2019–2022 intersession, including within the framework of the GFCM 2030 Strategy for sustainable fisheries and aquaculture in the Mediterranean and the Black Sea (GFCM 2030 Strategy) and in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, and provided advice on priorities in the field of aquaculture management and research. Le Comité scientifique consultatif de l'aquaculture de la Commission générale des pêches pour la Méditerranée (CGPM)a tenu sa douzième session en mode hybride, à Casablanca (Maroc) et en ligne, du 7 au 9 juin 2022. Ont participé à la session des délégués de 18 parties contractantes, trois parties coopérantes non contractantes et un observateur, ainsi que des représentants de la Division des pêches de l'aquaculture de l’Organisation des Nations Unies pour l’alimentation et l’agriculture (FAO) et du Secrétariat de la Commission, et des experts invités. La session a été l’occasion pour le Comité de passer en revue les travaux menés pendant la période intersessions 2019-2022, y compris dans le cadre de la Stratégie 2030 de la CGPM pour une pêche et une aquaculture durables en Méditerranée et en mer Noire (Stratégie 2030 de la CGPM) et à la lumière de la pandémie de covid-19. -

No results found.The Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) of the General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM) held its tenth session in Nicosia, Cyprus, from 22 to 26 October 2007. It was attended by delegates from 14 Members of the Commission. The Committee appraised the activities of its subsidiary bodies and those of the regional projects supporting the Commission as well as the outcome of the Coordinating Meeting of the Sub-Committees (CMSC). It acknowledged the progress in strengthening the stoc k assessment process notably through promoting joint assessment practice as well as the definition and identification of criteria for the priority species and shared stocks. It favoured the trend for the use of the data from trawl survey and requested to pay special attention to the hake (Merluccius merluccius) and associated species in 2008. SAC reviewed fishery management proposals emanating from its Sub-Committees and formulated related advice. The Committee took note of progress achieved wit h regard to defining Fisheries restricted Area and the promotion of activities on EAF and MPAs. The Committee emphasized the need to implement catch and effort data reporting in the frame of Resolution GFCM/31/2007/1 on Task 1 statistical matrix. The SAC established ad hoc Working Groups on recreational fisheries and on trawl selectivity and gave guidance regarding the activities of the Joint GFCM/International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT) Working Group on Large Pel agic Species. The Committee agreed upon its workplan for 2008. It elected its new bureau.

No results found.This multivolume field guide covers the species of interest to fisheries of the major marine resource groups exploited in the Eastern Central Atlantic. The area of coverage includes FAO fishing area 34 and part of 47. The marine resource groups included are bivalves, gastropods, chitons, cephalopods, stomatopods, shrimps, lobsters, crabs, hagfishes, sharks, batoid fishes, chimaeras, bony fishes and sea turtles. The introductory chapter outlines the environmental, ecological, and biogeographical factors influencing the marine biota, and the basic components of the fisheries in the Eastern Central Atlantic. Within the field guide, the sections on the re source groups are arranged phylogenetically according to higher taxonomic levels such as class, order, and family. Each resource group is introduced by general re marks on the group, an illustrated section on technical terms and measurements, and a key or guide to orders or families. Each family generally has an account summarizing family diagnostic characters, bi o logical and fisheries in formation, notes on similar families occur ring in the area, a key to species, a check list of species, and a short list of relevant literature. Families that are less important to fisheries include an abbreviated family ac count and no de tailed species in formation. Species in the important families are treated in detail (arranged alphabetically by genus and species) and include the species name, frequent synonyms and names of similar speci es, an illustration, FAO common name(s), diagnostic characters, biology and fisheries in formation, notes on geo graphical distribution, and a distribution map. For less important species, abbreviated accounts are used. Generally, this includes the species name, FAO common name(s), an illustration, a distribution map, and notes on biology, fisheries, and distribution. Each volume concludes with its own index of scientific and common names. -
