No results found.This report was prepared within the framework of the FAO/World Bank Cooperative Programme of the Investment Centre. .In the year 2000 Ecuador had 11,6 Millions hectares of forests which was 47% of the country’s continental area. At the pace of extremely quick deforestation of 1.5% annually, which is four times higher than all the neighbouring countries, 1 million hectares of forests may have been gone by this year. -

No results found.To address the needs of individual regions, such as LAC, more detailed regional and sub regional strategies are needed to ensure that forestry contributes fully to the challenges of poverty, inequity, environmental degradation and sustainable development. This report presents such a strategy for four Andean Countries of South America, that is, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. Venezuela could not be included because of time constraints, and the difficulties of obtaining a suitable consultant to carry out the field work. -

It represents part of an area of work on linkages between access to forest resources and poverty in West and Central Asia. This report describes the training provided to the national consultants and the methodology used for the case studies. It provides a summary of the findings as well as more detailed reports for each country.
