This year, 2024, marks the 60th anniversary of the Cooperative Programme (CP) between the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the World Bank, a collaboration that has been a cornerstone of efforts to eliminate poverty, hunger, and malnutrition. Together, the two organizations direct investment towards projects that not only transform the agriculture sector but also advance FAO's vision of the Four Betters — better production, better nutrition, a better environment, and a better life. Celebrating six decades of partnership highlights the dedication, ingenuity, and talent that have delivered tangible results for people worldwide. It is also an opportunity to leverage this legacy of experience to catalyze even greater public and private investment for a more prosperous, sustainable, and livable planet for all.

Today’s agrifood systems are threatened by natural and man-made disasters, climate-related shocks, such as floods, droughts and extreme weather, conflicts, political uncertainty and economic disruptions. Transforming them to work better for people and the planet is as urgent as ever. FAO, through its Investment Centre, collaborates with countries and a growing network of financing and knowledge partners to provide investment and finance solutions tailored to meet today’s challenges. This edition of the FAO Investment Centre Annual Review looks at the Centre’s achievements in 2024 – including marking 60 years of investment support – and priorities for the coming years.
