The document includes an account of APHCA’s work during October 2001 to August 2002, details on on-going and future activities including protecting the environment from the impact of the growing industrialization of livestock production in East Asia, update on the first report on the state of the world’s animal genetic resources, and village poultry development. In addition, a half-day workshop was devoted to the theme “Feed Safety, Food Safety”, joined by a group of 20 persons comprising farmers, livestock entrepreneurs, feed millers and food processors. -

No results found.This publication reports the proceedings of the thirty-fifth session of the Animal Production and Health Commission for Asia and the Pacific (APHCA) convened from 2 to 4 November 2011 in Cebu City, Philippines. The session outlined elements of a response to address the challenges faced by the livestock sector in Asia and the Pacific, taking into account the region's socio-economic and cultural dimensions. Major themes considered were: the changing character of the Asian food economy and the emer ging role of livestock, the emerging structure of livestock production and implications for management of natural resources and the environment, and the complexities of animal-human-ecosystems interface in Asia and the Pacific and the way forward. Key recommendations that emerged are included in the report. -

No results found.This publication reports the proceedings of the thirty-sixth session of the Animal Production and Health Commission for Asia and the Pacific (APHCA) convened from 22 to 26 September 2013 in Thimphu, Bhutan. The session emphasized that 70 percent of the world's poor livestock keepers and 40 percent of the global livestock population reside in Asia-Pacific. Main themes considered were: smallholder dairy development; infectious diseases of animals and their long-term threat to livestock production; formation of an expert working group on veterinary antimicrobial resistance risk management; formation of an Asia-Pacific animal feed network to establish a common approach for feed resource assessment across interested countries; the need to strengthen national capacity of livestock sector policy formulation, among others. Country reports, key developments of concern to the Commission and main recommendations are included in the report.
