The project seeks to strengthen the adoption of improved maize varieties. Continuous learning and improvement of the SMS campaign strategy is at the foundation of the success of the project. Lessons from farmers, extension agents and the entire maize value chain are being incorporated in the system regularly. -

No results found.For the first time in Mozambique, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in cooperation with Agro-Negocio para o Desenvolvimento de Moçambique (ADM) developed and tested the use of e-vouchers to facilitate farmers’ access to seeds, fertilizers and other inputs needed to increase production and productivity. The e-voucher system is a flexible market development tool that allows farmers to buy certain types of inputs from agro-dealers that accept e-vouchers as a partial payment. No results found.In order to support Kenyan farmers, the Kenyan Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KALRO) developed the Agro-Weather Tool. The farmers still rely heavily on traditional methods to understand weather predictions and those do not allow them to mitigate the risks brought about by climate change. The Agro-Weather Tool is a web and mobile based information system that incorporates climate information and good agricultural practices for farmers. The tool has been developed to help farmers better manage weather risks, maximize productivity and minimize the environmental impact of farming practices. In further support of the farmers in the arid and semi-arid regions ofmKenya, KALRO also developed KALRO Knowledge Hub and mobile applications.
