    The second issue of the FAO Bulletin in Kyrgyzstan highlights significant events and initiatives. The FAO Director-General's visit marked a new chapter in cooperation between FAO and Kyrgyzstan, underscoring commitments to sustainable mountain development. The publication also covers the International Conference of the Global Mountain Dialogue, where experts discussed strategies for sustainable development in mountain areas. Additionally, the bulletin celebrates FAO’s 80th anniversary with special focus on groundbreaking projects implemented in Kyrgyzstan, including the launch of an innovative artificial glacier technology aimed at water conservation and the successful trials of biopesticides to enhance agricultural productivity. FAO’s support in establishing an Agricultural Product Traceability System and the renewal of the Food Systems-Based Dietary Guidelines initiative demonstrate our continued efforts to strengthen food security and improve nutrition in the region.

    Regional Legal Report on results of analysis of legislation relevant to antimicrobial use and antimicrobial resistance in the food and agriculture sector in Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan 2023

    Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a global health threat, that has been exacerbated by the inappropriate and excessive use of antimicrobials, especially in the human and livestock-related food-producing sectors. The Regional Legal Report presents the results of an analysis of the national legislation relevant to antimicrobial use (AMU) and AMR in the food and agriculture sector that has been conducted in Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan. The document discusses the findings of the legal analysis, gives recommendations for addressing weaknesses and formulates proposals for improving existing legislation in each country, with the ultimate goal of limiting the imprudent use of antimicrobials, and therefore decreasing the spread of AMR in food and agriculture.

    The third issue of the FAO in Kyrgyzstan Newsletter highlights the organization's key ongoing events and initiatives.
