Synopsis (short abstract) L'intensification du conflit civil à Abyei a provoqué de nouvelles vagues de déplacements de population et expose des milliers de personnes à une insécurité alimentaire grave. Selon les rapports, la ville d'Abyei serait en grande partie déserte et la zone du marché a été rasée par des incendies. Les violents affrontements survenus précédemment en décembre 2007, janvier et mars 2008 ont déjà fait plusieurs morts et entraîné des déplacements de population. Ce renouvellement des hostilités devrait faire empirer la situation humanitaire dans la région et pourrait compromettre les opérations d'aide. Jusqu'à présent, les interventions humanitaires se sont adressées en priorité à 100 000 personnes environ, qui ont fui d'autres endroits de la région d'Abyei et de l'État de Warrap. L'ONU et des ONG sont sur place pour répondre aux besoins des personnes déplacées.
