ProjectAdaptating and Implementing Integrated Pest Management in Republic of Moldova - TCP/MOL/3502 2019
Also available in:
No results found.Agriculture is a key sector in the Moldovan economy. Seventy five percent of the population lives in rural areas and depends on agriculture and related activities for their livelihoods. However, agriculture in the region usually suffers from the negative incidence of a number of pests and diseases, which cause significant economic damage. At the same time, the lack of farmers’ knowledge and capacity in crop and pest management is a serious threat for the future development of agriculture. The project aimed to strengthen the capacities of the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment (MARDE) and the Phytosanitary Service of the National Food Safety Agency (ANSA) to develop a national programme for the adaptation and implementation of an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) system in the country; and to increase farmer’s skills and knowledge in order to accelerate the adaptation of IPM principles to farming conditions. -
