No results found.These objectives are expected to reposition the sector in order to generate positive impacts in the following areas. Firstly, enhance the sustainability of agricultural production through the expansion of food production for domestic consumption and exports, with a focus on increasing the share of value-added goods.Secondly, strengthen systems for enabling an acceptable level of food security and food safety. Thirdly, strengthening of the domestic and export marketing infrastructure, in order to increase exports to traditional and non-traditional markets, facilitate import substitution; and expand the sharing of information pertaining to all aspects of marketing intelligence and production with the farming community. Fourthly, facilitate an enhanced level of participation in agricultural production, by facilitating access to land, water, capital and other inputs. Fifthly, enhance the management, development and efficient distribution of water to commercial farmers, including those bene fitting from access to subsidized irrigation through the rural development program managed by the Barbados Agricultural Development and Management Corporation (BADMC) and farmers utilizing supplies provided by the Barbados Water Authority. -
