Agribusiness is a profitable sector in the Russian Federation, which is rapidly gaining in popularity. Attracting generous state support in the form of subsidies, tax breaks, grants and land allocation, this is an area that is destined to grow, with strong potential for the country’s economy, as well as for generating incomes for those interested in entering it. Training has emerged as a critical component of the successful development of the sector, both in technical skills, and to ensure a solid grounding in business management for farm-based enterprises. Since 2015, a total 2 794 learners drawn from 81 regions of the Russian Federation have been trained at the Academy. The increased interest in this career path has highlighted the need for more effective training, which prepares learners in every aspect of farming as a business. An experience capitalization process conducted in 2020 has pinpointed a number of areas that would benefit from improvement. These include better documentation and analysis of feedback from previous farmer trainees – examining how they have used their skills, and adjusting the training to address any shortcomings.
