Synopsis (short abstract) This flyer introduces the Asia and the Pacific handbook for soil health assessment and monitoring (2025 edition), a practical guide to assess and monitor soil health across Asia and the Pacific region. Once published, the handbook will offer standardized, evidence-based methods and indicators that align with regional needs and with the frameworks developed under FAO’s Global Soil Partnership, including SoilSTAT and its Global Soil Health Indicator System (SHIS), while allowing adaptation to local conditions, agroecological zones, and major crop types. As the first edition, the handbook will lay the groundwork for harmonized soil health assessment and monitoring across the region and will be periodically updated to incorporate emerging regional and global standards and methodologies.
